Ode to Typography

A book design for the poem "Ode to Typography" by Pablo Neruda.

July, 2012
Pablo Neruda's poem "Ode to Typography" is a about an admiration for typographical forms. In this project, we were asked to design this poem in a way that described how we felt about it. I felt that the poem was full of symbolism, and focused on the idea of typography being a seed that allows for the growth of ideas and communication. This book is full of watercolor and ink drawings that dance around the poem and illustrate this idea of growth.
This book was handmade and stitched with an open spine.
The front cover has a cutout filled with seeds that move freely with the book.
